Suicide Jack
Suicide Jack ... I heard his name for the first time -
Back in the autumn of 1972.
I was only 12 years old ... but the screams remain,
I remember hearing them on my way to school.
The older boys were always trying to scare me -
As we passed the Ole Town Mill - they'd tease and they'd taunt.
They would push me towards the Mill and call out his name,
Yelling "Jack's gonna bleed ya in the Ole Mill pond!"
I was so damn scared and had every right to be -
Jack was once a real person who worked in the Mill.
It was in the hot summer of 1950,
The Mill was thriving - many work orders fo fill..
Jack wasn't well liked - he wasn't one of the guys -
He was always the object of insults and jokes.
He vowed he'd get even - take-em all by surprise,
He faked his suicide - fooled family and town folk.
One by one .. the accidents began to happen -
A loosened saw blade - a severed arm on the floor.
Drilled out eyes and faces ground off by the sander,
The floors ran red - in a river of blood and gore!
Jack thought he had killed every worker in the Mill -
So he hosed all the blood down the drain to the pond.
He threw their bodies in the wood fired furnace,
Workin' straight thru the night until the early morn.
When he finally completed his gruesome task -
He sat down to admire the work he had done..
Smiling as he removed his leather hide mask,
He came face to face with a gun - held by his son!.
He tried to reason with him - but couldnt be heard -
He couldn't hear himself speak over his sons screams.
So Jack jumped and lunged forward and caught him off guard,
They fell landing next to the wood chipping machine!
Jack kicked at the lever - firing the machine up -
The conveyor belt they lay on - rapidly moved.
Jack reacted quickly and he threw his son off,
The last words he spoke to Jack Jr. were - I love you.
Jack Jr. screamed so loud as his sanity snapped -
Some say you can still hear him if you listen close.
They say he killed himself and now his soul is trapped,
Forever in the Ole Mill - with Suicide Jack;s ghost!
So if you ever find yourself on Ole Mill Road
You better heed the warning signs and don't trespass.
Because if you do - you will surely lose your soul,
And end up another victim of Suicide Jack!
