Return to Innocence Poem 3
One of our own in the deep dark night
Tried to take the tyrant’s one and only life
When we awoke and saw his corpse rise
Anger, hate, regret, filled all of our minds
Anger in the thought of such a young death
Hate for the tyrant and her heartless breath
Regret for not standing by him in his time of need
Now it’s time for us all to be free, or to bleed.
Our flag our fallen, to those who just stand by
Reign terror reign revenge to try or to die
For our forsaken, the weak, old, and young
It is time for redemption, play the war drum!
Our secret counsel held a meeting that night
We all agreed it was time to kill and fight
Spread the word, spread the deed
For tonight, on hate we will drink and feed
Little did we know, little could we guess
How one person’s death will give us lively breath?
Little could we do, blood stirring in our veins
Anger flowing like poison in everyone’s brains
Our flag our fallen, to those who just stand by
Reign terror reign revenge to try or to die
For our forsaken, the weak, old, and young
It is time for redemption, play the war drum!
Silently we agreed, death our messenger
For the sake of our people, we need a better future
Shovel, pick, spade, hoe, axe all raised high
Tools which we were entrusted will cause her to die
Every man and able woman were to join the ranks
We will bring down her castle no matter what it takes
Everyone brave, everyone strong, hate racing like adrenaline
And so the guards fell, those foolish iron clad men
Our flag our fallen, to those who just stand by
Reign terror reign revenge to try or to die
For our forsaken, the weak, old, and young
It is time for redemption, play the war drum!
Our own took watch, as quiet as the grave
And from there we went in, no longer shall be a slave
The enchantress and the hunter, blood boiling in rage
No longer just a creature, beaten and caged!
Slowly we progressed some armed with bows and swords
Quickly we took over the hospitals and wards
Sentries fell faster than any guard ever could
The barracks of sleeping soldiers building made of wood
Our flag our fallen, to those who just stand by
Reign terror reign revenge to try or to die
For our forsaken, the weak, old, and young
It is time for redemption, play the war drum!
As the flames rolled high into the night sky
Guards progressed to the screams and we slipped by
Now a full out riot, we took so much as our own
Up toward the castle keep brandishing steel and sword
Guards overwhelmed by the hundreds of workers here
Their hearts in their eyes we could sense their desperate fear
Some ran, moral dropped to dead and the courtyard was ours
To the keep, to the enchantress, to her towers!
Our flag our fallen, to those who just stand by
Reign terror reign revenge to try or to die
For our forsaken, the weak, old, and young
It is time for redemption, play the war drum!
Bashing in the door, all reception fell
Welcome to our anger, welcome to our hell!
Brutality beyond what some men have ever seen
The ground red with blood and in the moon it gleamed.
Wandering down the back hallway, we progressed up the ancient stairs
Up slowly to the top, where then enchantress herself was to be there
Weapons brandished, weapons at the ready
To heaven or to hell and let’s hope there’s not too many!
Our flag our fallen, to those who just stand by
Reign terror reign revenge to try or to die
For our forsaken, the weak, old, and young
It is time for redemption, play the war drum!
Her great doors loomed over all of our heads
No guards, no alert, but dark deathly dread
Collectively we rammed her door, which split open wide
And in anger and in the stream of war we charged inside
There she was, all alone sitting upon her bed
She slowly looked up and tilted her head
“so you have come, just to slowly kill me?”
Her sweet voice sung out like a melody
Our weapons fell useless to our sides men and woman both
Her eyes an alluring sapphire blue, lust replaced loath
Slowly one by one she called our names
And when she did, willingly we came
I think in our minds we knew we were going to die
There was nothing to do as our bodies pilled high
She whispered to us and slit our throats
Blood stained our petty workers clothes
Finally, lastly, I was called to her, arms open wide
No longer could I feel the hate, anger, or despise
She whispered to me, told me how brave I am
She slit my throat, and told me I was to be damned
All went black, our war was over and done
Weakness over came me, I felt so cold and yet warm
I felt like I was letting go… of what I can only guess
Then I floated… the war ended in our deaths
Alternative Ending!
Our flag our fallen, to those who just stand by
Reign terror reign revenge to try or to die
For our forsaken, the weak, old, and young
It is time for redemption, play the war drum!
We gave no heed to her words, anger overcoming her spell
Accusing fingers rose, as if sending her to hell
She stood and drew her swords and smiled
Now time has come for our final trial
We charged yelling our anger and hate
She stood perfectly still a lion in wait
The first of us upon her swung for force
She blocked and countered, killing him of course
Our flag our fallen, to those who just stand by
Reign terror reign revenge to try or to die
For our forsaken, the weak, old, and young
It is time for redemption, play the war drum!!
Soon surrounded she swung at the nearest person to attack
Then I came from behind, and attacked her back
Injured she fell from my blow and quickly she was pinned
We brought her out into the open, tied like our brother man, she has sinned
We stood by her and executed her like she would to us
The dawn began to rise; in all men we gave our trust
The sun touched her body, and we progressed into a new life
One free of tyranny, one free of pain, one free from this strife
