For your Amusement
It has always amazed me how time seems to blend away so effortlessly
Your smiles that morph into laughs
That turns into sorrow, mourning, pain, that all help to pass the time
And what seemed like dispensable seconds, drift into hours
That compose days
Which zone into months that spell out the years of our lives
That is all just one big moment
A sketch in time
And when you are young you feel immortal
That time, neither age, nor death was created for you
But all the others in the world
And that somehow it would never find you
I’ve been there
Trapped in that fleeting moment of time I call the “great escape”
Gives you a cloak of invisibility
And for teenage seconds of your life
YOU ARE GOD.
And all the power and dominion he hath, you hold in your hands
...But then I grew up
And I realize that you can’t always squeeze lemons into lemonade just because you thought you could. That’s the awful thing about maturity
It makes you realize that the stage of life is all a façade
And when the curtain closes you are left all alone to deal with the brutality of reality
-That life is hard
-Sometimes people suck (and not in a good way)
-Everyone doesn’t love you (or even like you)
And that maybe,
Just maybe,
That just because you are center stage in your world, doesn’t make you top priority to society
Everyone has got their own shit
A trunk full of luggage and not enough duffle bags to carry the load
You meet a stranger today
And that face will fade into another
So in the end what did it all mean anyway?
Maybe, Just maybe, not a goddam thing.
