EURASIAN COLLARED DOVES
A sudden flash of silvery blue grey,
Floating down from the clear blue sky;
Alighting to Earth so gracefully,
This wondrous beauty caught my eye.
Espying now, through the camera lens,
Shows a black collar on their neck,
Their small grey heads were bobbing up and down
Eating scattered seeds as they pecked.
These birds are not like the doves around here;
They've been gone for several days.
They're on their way south, to spend winter there;
Keeping warm from winter's display.
Checking to find the name of these new doves
The computer, a source to know;
These lovely doves, of Euroasian descent,
Does not dread the coming of snow.
I could sit for hours enjoying their beauty;
So peaceful, as they float down to dine.
These doves truly give a promise of peace;
These silv'ry blue grey doves of mine.
