Vividly Dark
I will not paint you a picture
Of love and rainbows
I know not the colors
That belong in that scene
Instead I will paint you a picture
Blended into a whirlwind of colors
Like a visceral rendition of a Picasso on acid
I will run you through a forest
Of green trees and newly budded flowers
And watch your face as I transform them
Into rotting corpses dripping with blood
I will hold you close to my heart
With fevered skin and heaving chest
And feel you recoil
When they become skeletal arms
And decaying flesh
I will kiss you deeply drinking you in
Intoxicating you with carnal desire
And I will feel you choking
As you taste the rotten explosion
Of blood soaked honey
I will write you a sonnet
Drowning in raindrops of love
And watch you become blinded
When I twist the words
With contagious cynicism and bits of your soul
But you will not fall from my embrace
You will not flee from lust’s caress
You will not fear my sorrowful soul
You will not free me from the dark
You will simply love me for me
Darkness and all
