The Comfort Of Innocence
As I was sitting here
With my head in my hands
Silently crying
Silently praying
For the end
I felt two arms
Wrap tightly around my neck
I felt the warmth
Of a tiny little body
Not yet a woman
I felt the caress of little hands
Patting my back
I heard the rhythmic beat
Of a heart unspoiled
I saw the purest love
Within the biggest brown eyes
I heard the innocence
Contained within the softest whisper
I love you mommy
Please don't cry.
With my head in my hands
Silently crying
Silently praying
For the end
I felt two arms
Wrap tightly around my neck
I felt the warmth
Of a tiny little body
Not yet a woman
I felt the caress of little hands
Patting my back
I heard the rhythmic beat
Of a heart unspoiled
I saw the purest love
Within the biggest brown eyes
I heard the innocence
Contained within the softest whisper
I love you mommy
Please don't cry.
