Unauthorized Love
In the dark of the night,
Sitting in your room all alone,
A faint whisper echoes,
“I love you”.
You close your eyes,
And you picture a better place,
Where you could feel,
His strong arms around you.
But reality sets in again,
And you cry out in vain,
Wishing someone understood you,
Wishing that they were here.
Then a voice out of the silence.
A light through the dark,
He says “I’m here,
I’ll never leave your side”.
Your hope replenishes,
But soon fades,
When you realize,
Tomorrow your fears come alive again.
Your parents don’t approve,
But still he’s with you,
Right by your side,
Forever and always.
With a love so strong,
Nothing can tear it apart,
Not even a thousand lashes,
Or a thousand years in hell.
Darkness consuming,
Faith a dying,
Hope was nowhere in sight,
The end has just begun.
A silent night,
On the darkest day,
That expecting call,
Never came.
Another day,
Still no sign of life,
Had she forgotten me?
Or was there trouble?
Paranoia paints itself,
Onto my mind,
Was it me?
Did I say something wrong?
Minutes start to feel like hours,
And hours feel like days,
The waiting is killing me,
I’m about to go insane.
Then I saw her face,
And I saw a glimmer of hope,
In my darkening of days.
A mother’s love,
Always wanted but never found,
A father’s acceptance,
Was never in sight.
My world’s crashing down,
All around me,
What I thought was solid ground,
Is now crumbling underneath me.
I’ve altered my appearance,
In many different ways,
Looking for acceptance,
But none was found.
He tells me to be myself,
But yet he wants me to change,
So, I cut my hair,
And I changed my music,
But still acceptance wasn’t found
