The Mistress That Was
You fell in-love, with a married man. That was your first mistake.
Of course it wasn’t part of the plan, still, we lie in the bed, that we make.
You say he swept you off your feet; and that his words, you couldn’t resist.
That’s bullshit. You knew he was married. You just wanted the fun, of being his mistress.
The thought of the thought, that it wouldn’t happen to you, shouldn’t have been a thought at all.
His wife, your friend, that you respected, is where your morality, started to fall.
You over-stepped boundaries before the first date; and that’s where I interject.
I ain’t taking sides. I’m keepin’ it real. It was his own marriage, that he wrecked.
You don’t love this man; and no other right-minded woman should; but that’s my point of view.
The things you’ve done that gave you pleasure wasn’t love. It’s just things people sometimes do.
Now while you were doing, and getting done, those little things that give pleasure.
You were thinking of his wife; but while you were screwing, she just didn’t measure.
You believed him? When he told you he’d leave, and that marriage was in your future.
Ah give me a break. That’s a relationship with a deep slash, that wouldn’t survive any surgeon’s soocher.
When you got pregnant and he said it wasn’t his, don’t tell me. He started an argument and began to shout.
Yeah that’s what I thought. He and his wife had already started, and were trying to work it out.
He’s saying some things you didn’t want to believe; and now you’re asking where does that leave you.
Common sense. Alone. A side-line-hoe. You were just something out there to screw.
You might think he’s gotta be a man and want to be in his child’s life.
Nope, I don’t think so. His punk-ass ain’t about to leave his wife.
Now you’re alone, broke, pregnant, and stuck raising this bastard child
Don’t trip. You’re not by yourself. A lot of women have walked, that lonely mile.
Let’s keep it real again. You weren’t stupid. You had the chance to resist.
You just couldn’t pass up the fun from the risk, of being this married man’s mistress.
