"Nobody Knows"
I’m sittin’ at my home, mindin’ my biz,
when Men surrounded and shackled, myself, my Woman and kids.
Because I was taken by surprise, unfortunately mine eyes see,
one of my Brothers being slain, while tryin’ to protect his family.
Bound by our necks toward the coast, we felt the whip
Where a bunch of little boats were waiting, to take us to a big ship.
Once aboard we were packed, like sardines in a can.
To be victims of a sick way of life, waiting on another land.
I lost the body-count at 400, not sure, could’ve been more;
But a week later, a third had died, and had been thrown overboard.
We were placed in little cells, separated – Men, Women and kids.
While crowds gathered to the auctions, to offer their bids.
I watched my wife stripped NAKED, after they SHOVED her on the STAGE!
She was sold before myself. My kids sold, according to AGE!
That was 50 years ago, excuse me. My mind comes and goes.
I’ve asked what became of my family; but unfortunately, ‘nobody knows’.
