Disappointment Murders Faith
The pain of disappointment pulls me down so low
I hang my head in shame from all the thoughts that flow
It strikes me forcefully like bullets piercing through my chest
Murdering the faith inside that held me together from the rest
Many people still take a chance on living by dreams and luck
Prayer seems to be kept as an option whenever they get stuck
Disappointment then leads us toward a feeling of hopelessness
Causing our bleeding hearts to feel the absence of true bliss
A feeling of desperation pushes deep into my fragile mind
As my staggering heart dies slowly from the emptiness I find
I must forget these deep regrets that brought this mental state
Look at what the painful blow of disappointment can create
We worry about outcomes to the problems we face each day
When we can overcome them all by taking time to pray
A thankful heart can drown out negativity that’s killing you
Were truly blest but fail to see the light that’s breaking through
Lord, encourage me to stand up and try again whenever I fail
I set high expectations for myself but sometimes I don’t prevail
I need to breathe in a new mentality so I can feel You near
Then I won’t have any excuse to doubt your ways or live in fear
