I Miss You
Many a night
I lay in bed
listening to music.
The meaningful lyrics,
the guitar softly strumming,
the drums keeping a steady beat.
The music
that reminds me of you.
I reminisce
not knowing
whether to laugh
or to cry.
I cling pitifully to
the memories I have kept.
The conversation
that I have stolen.
And I remember.
I miss you.
I miss hearing your laugh.
And glancing behind me
and knowing you are there.
I miss your obsession with zombies.
And your insane love for video games
I miss your happy-go-lucky attitude.
And the compassion you have for your brothers.
I miss spending late nights next door at your house,
watching movies, playing games.
And not going back home til late.
I miss the things that make you who you are.
Like your dogs.
Or banana popsicles.
Or a glance from one of my friends,
casually directed towards you.
I miss the things that remind me of you.
Like swimming in the pool.
Or long road trips.
Or spending the day in my pajamas
like you always would.
I miss you.
I lay in bed
listening to music.
The meaningful lyrics,
the guitar softly strumming,
the drums keeping a steady beat.
The music
that reminds me of you.
I reminisce
not knowing
whether to laugh
or to cry.
I cling pitifully to
the memories I have kept.
The conversation
that I have stolen.
And I remember.
I miss you.
I miss hearing your laugh.
And glancing behind me
and knowing you are there.
I miss your obsession with zombies.
And your insane love for video games
I miss your happy-go-lucky attitude.
And the compassion you have for your brothers.
I miss spending late nights next door at your house,
watching movies, playing games.
And not going back home til late.
I miss the things that make you who you are.
Like your dogs.
Or banana popsicles.
Or a glance from one of my friends,
casually directed towards you.
I miss the things that remind me of you.
Like swimming in the pool.
Or long road trips.
Or spending the day in my pajamas
like you always would.
I miss you.
