Words Not Spoken
It's not the way you look at failure,
But it's the way you choose to experience it.
Two figures stand frozen in a faded photograph.
One has been through hardships, but has lived.
The other has experienced failutre, but wants to give up.
The older heart wants to show the girl,
Exactly how life will be,
To not dwell on the days of yesterday.
To not take life so seriously.
To let time heal the scars,
From even the deepest cut.
To never give up on true love.
To learn from your mistakes,
and not take the hard times only as a nusense.
Still, she is only a girl;
She will not contemplate it for years.
So right now, all the man can do,
Is put his hand on her shoulder and softly say,
“It's not the way you look at failure,
But it's the way you choose to experience it.”
