That Child
Can you see that child
with the golden hair and the bluest eyes?
She's standing there all alone,
wanting to do the things
other children do,
but knowing that she just can't.
Her whole world tumbles down, and she can't
be her mother's angel child.
But there's nothing she can do
to get all the eyes
off of the things
she can only do alone.
Her mother sits, crying and alone,
thinking about how her baby can't
do all of the things
she wants to, and live like a child.
As rain falls from the sky, and tears from her eyes,
there isn't anything she can do.
Forever on, that's all that mother can do,
sit on the floor crying alone.
She can never look in her child's eyes
without thinking she's the reason her girl can't
be a normal, happy, child.
Still she tries not to think of those things.
The child doesn't ask for many things,
for pity and sympathy will not do.
She doesn't want despair, she wants to be a child,
loved and never alone.
But she knows, she can't.
You can see that story in her eyes.
Please, look deep into her eyes
and yo uwill see all the things
I see. Her smile can't
fool you, it's the only thing she can do
to make you believe that she is happy alone
and just being this child.
That mother looks at her child, and tears fall from her eyes,
She blames herself for her child being alone, and not being able to do the things
all the other children do. She wants to change everything...but she can't.
