Living Proof
I stand alone thinking about my uncle,
His laughter is gone, and with me no longer.
I look to find what used to just be
an item, but not it is a memory
and now I have it.
The pocket watched he'd carry,
the steam train etched in
with the glory of perfection.
Metal gleaming bright,
I slip it in my pocket
and I feel him close to me once more.
This is what he wanted from me
so I would never forget him.
After showing it to me each day
he'd tell me time
is always yours.
So as this watch is with me
in my pocket and heart forever
so shall his legacy.
So now I know...
this is living proof.
