No Rainbows
The rain is falling to the ground
it wasn't a storm,it wasn't a mist.
It was just a stream of dreams left forgotten.
The sun shines, but the day is dark
and there are no rainbows.
The smiles are wide,
the tempers are short, they did not understand the rain.
The air was silent,
though there was one song,
of children laughing
of adults crying
of trees waving against the breeze
of sparkling waters, rippling with no sound
But there are no rainbows
Just a paper doll world
cut from the perfect dotted line
exact angles, exact lines
but the day was cold and dark with that sound.
Eventually the song stopped
and the silence was replaced by and echo that covered the screams
and there are no more rainbows
