    One for the Minister

    Hell no you can’t

Keep your hands off our stuff!

We’ve taken a lot of shit

    But enough is enough

You say you care about the future

Yet stab students in their backs

    You cut vital funding

Rather than raise a bit of tax

We dealt with it when you sent us to war

And when you started tapping our phones

We barely noticed when you sold us out

Or when you invaded our homes

But a line has to be drawn

And here it bandana and banner is!

A sea of people yelling in protest

    The future you just dismiss

Me, I’m not big on education

I’d much rather hang at the zoo

Yet I want humanity to succeed

So to sum up, minister, fuck you

well the minister here is the government that really don't care..... Atleast Jesus cared enough to die for us....... That is my true Minister to ignore the rest of it........ red

A fitting commentary that speaks loud and clear to the most simplistic truth ___The truth that all the money in the world spent in educating our young to "what to think" instead of "how to think", is merely creating aspiring pawns, to the blindness and nonsense of social reform...Although it remains uncertain if it is for the same reasons we patronize the city zoo's___I feel your fervor in this write...

Well stated and I couldn't agree more! Our public school systems here in Indiana (and I would imagine all over the States) have been the been the victim of budget cuts for years. It's frustrating to see our political figures driving around in luxury cars and living in veritable mansions while the education systems they've promised to get back on track continues to swirl around the proverbial drain pipe. It's rather disgusting! The education of our youth is vital to the progress and continuation of this planet. Why is that such a difficult concept to grasp?

Just a word of advice from someone studying English as a foreign language - you appear to write in American English mostly, and in that sense, you have to remember that it's not called a minister (as in Danish and British English) but a secretary. Other than that, I agree with the point of your poem completely - albeit, I think it would be stronger if it contained a little more of your usual laid-back-ness or a little less fury. :)

I actually thought about changing it to secretary, but i wanted to make it absolutely clear that i was talking about the danish education reforms. And i think you might be right, but this kinda thing really get's my blood boiling, so the usual roll of the eyes simply won't do for me. :p

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
