© 2011 The boy you once knew
The boy you once knew is dead
no more will he be walked upon
he keeps a tune inside his head
remembering how the sun'd shone.
The boy you knew once upon a time
has grown taller and been through hell
he won't fall for your sugar coated line
and isn't afraid of the distant tolling bell.
The boy you once took advantage of
has found wings he didn't know he had
he flys in peace now his spirit's a dove
you can't shoot him because your aim's bad.
The boy you tricked isn't a boy anymore
he's walked onward and become a man
he loathes false charity, he knows the score
he won't back down from making his stand.
The boy you need is no longer there
he doesn't confuse love with being used
his skin is thicker to weather the wear
he's centered in travelling with his muse.
