©2010 A Good Father
A good father observes but is slow to reactHe holds his tounge , he keeps his tact.
He loves his children as he loves himself
He never puts his child's needs on a shelf.
He knows hard work can be a good medication
And that apologies aren't needed for every situation.
He knows that brimstone fire isn't the way to show
Because being a beacon and leading is the way to go.
He knows when to act on his children's behalf
When they face danger , fall in a trap and still are daft.
He is strong in life's obstacles on a foundation of stone
He knows how to help you not feel so alone.
He realizes it takes maturity to understand hidden mysteries
And keeps faith in his God to help you believe.
He teaches you to pull your bootstraps up
So you'll be strong enough to make it when life gets tough.
He knows that the world doesn't stop for one man
But takes time to care, love and do what he can to understand.
All these things you are , it makes me proud and so glad
Because you're not just a good father, you're the best Dad.
