The Ritual Dance
The Ritual Dance
In the pre-dawn dark
the lucid moon
allows deep thought,
sitting in the corner
John finds himself,
suddenly standing,
arms extended
high over his head,
palms held up
to the heavens,
seeing with closed eyes,
speaking his peace,
feeling his spirit
streaming around
the hospital room,
like leaves in the wind.
While she sleeps
he circles around the bed,
slowing turning
to some internal rhythm,
heard only by him,
making him move
around the room,
for he has let go,
allowing the waves
in this tiny room
to take him away
for a little while,
feeling free
for a little while,
needing to connect
with his spirit.
When she stirs, he stops
for she is smiling!
