Proud of Place
Proud of Place
Allowing me to run free
in an open field with
warm, long green grasses
under my hooves
Eagle overhead, we race,
I want to win -
my heart pounding
against my chest
I follow the eagle
into the canyon,
my hooves pound
against the hard dirt
I race the eagle
hearing my hooves
against the stones
drives me on to win
I love you for
allowing me to run free
to my wild place,
with you riding bareback.
