The Empty Man
The Empty Man
His dark energy drove him
drove him crazy
drove him to unbelievable
heights of grandeur
to lows of utter despair
depended on the day
depended on the hour
from one moment
to the next
you never knew who
would be in the room
with you
a raging bull
or a big, fluffy teddy bear
For his dark energy drove him
to burn away all friends
to tear to shreds his family
drove him crazy
to drive too fast
without a care he flew
over the edge
to fall far down
the face of the cliff
into the waiting ocean
along that dark stretch
of lonely highway
that he loved
to drive on alone.
