Running Out of Time
Alone I dream
With ticking and tocking in slow motion
It vibrates off my vertabrae
And I break into a cold sweat
I'm blind as a bat
And then a spotlight is thrust upon me
A hallway gradually appears ahead of me
Far out into nothingness a door stands still
I fall to my knees for there's nothing past but a clock
A timer set reading 3 minutes (and counting)
My breathing manages to keep steady
And is just as loud as the beat of time I'm faced against
Now reading 2 minutes (and counting)
I close my eyes as if already defeated by my nemesis
Still facing questions unanswered
What does this all mean?
Contemplating does nothing for me
(3..2..1) And I inhale as if it was to be my last breath
Suddenly I lie awake discombobulated
Now I'm left mute with the thoughts that have become me
