Behind Closed Doors
To whom it may concern,
I believe that there are days that don't concern me
But at the same time I wish that you would just speak to me
Actions speak louder than words and we're in a silent fight
There's only one thing on your face I admire in sight
I may not understand but at least give me the chance to try
Make me the journal you never had with the pages you never seen
Fill me with the endless stories of yourself even if it makes us cry
Let me be the one place, if any, where you can come clean
It's not safe to hide behind closed doors
I haven't gotten the chance to claim the keys
You don't have to live with these invisible sores
Let me be the one place, if any, to make those memories rest at ease
Let me be the wind that picks you up before you fall
Let me be the sun that warms you when you feel alone and cold
Let me be the harness that keeps you from colliding into every wall
Let me be the energy you need to still have something close to hold
Open the door and come out and play
No need to be afraid any longer
We'll take it slow day by day
And we'll show life who's stronger
