Our Song
I loved the way he so delicately played the melody of my life
Slightly brushing every chord of my love with his fingertips
I loved the way his song caressed his lips
Reaching to me as i honestly sung back
We had a song no one ever dared try to sing
It was the symphony of our friendship
Together it was in our being
Naturally inexplicable to those around us
My heart beat manufactured to coincide with his every footstep
We had this one on one look
To one another we were an open book
Time after time we spent our days in the back of the class
Giggling at nothing and joking about everything
Summer break came...
Summer break gone
The school day ended
No sign of our completed song
Asked our teacher a regretful question
As she contemplated from the corner of her eye SILENT
Teardrops courageously danced to the surface of her face
As she gasped for air and mournfully whispered
He's in a better place
I instantaneously fell frigid
Nothing but emptiness disguised my face
It was a disgrace
As my heart was strained
Completely stressed out and drained
My fellow musician fell apart after a motorcycle accident
Same way i lost my uncle which pushed me over the edge
So intense and heartbroken it took me 3 years to go see him
In the horrifying condition i never thought possible
Which was 6 feet under and untouchable
As our song slowly faded
High school continued
Passing the years and graduation finally arrived
Class rings came along and stars lit up in my eyes
Sapphire colored so peaceful
To guard the music note that lied within it
He was the harmony of our song
Now he's in the heavens above wrapped in pillowed clouds
Witnessing as i now physically sing alone
As the sun illuminates the horizon i sense his bliss
As the moon tranquilizes the universe i know he's content
Our song may have faded but never will it fully eradicate
For it is now a fantasy in lieu of reality
At night i lie awake attentive as the the angels fall to a trance
I feel there is but one that lies awake beside me in the atmosphere
Faintly singing our song
Now a lullaby as we sing it together for eternity
Every night in our dreams
Slightly brushing every chord of my love with his fingertips
I loved the way his song caressed his lips
Reaching to me as i honestly sung back
We had a song no one ever dared try to sing
