Turmoil And Misery Of The Sea
I sit on the sand
Watching the turmoil of the sea
I glance to one side briefly
To wonder how many have walked barefoot
Hand in hand under moonlit skies
Exchanging promises and words of endearment
Only to have them melt with the suns rise
I look back to the sea
Wishing the tide would carry me out
Drowning out my breath and misery
For I know in my heart
That you and I will never be
Never again will we walk hand in hand anywhere
Let alone barefoot on the soft sand by the sea
The promises of friendship have been swept away
Claimed by the unrelenting sea
Watching the turmoil of the sea
I glance to one side briefly
To wonder how many have walked barefoot
Hand in hand under moonlit skies
Exchanging promises and words of endearment
Only to have them melt with the suns rise
I look back to the sea
Wishing the tide would carry me out
Drowning out my breath and misery
For I know in my heart
That you and I will never be
Never again will we walk hand in hand anywhere
Let alone barefoot on the soft sand by the sea
The promises of friendship have been swept away
Claimed by the unrelenting sea
