The Music Was Ours
Once a long time ago we heard of the music so we went to searchWhile on our seperate ways we met each other and began to sing along
The road wasn't too long before we found our way
It wasn't hard to learn the beat and join the others in their groove
So together we rocked and swayed laughing and rejoicing at our fortune
How wonderful it was to find others like us but most importantly one another
For a while we were content as we twirled and spun together
We encouraged others to come along and together we were all content
Our utopia was ours at last, the song became our own and we sung high
Voices reaching up and up along with our laughter ringing out pure and true
Soon the music began to die and our bodies soon tired
Our throats became hoarse and the singing did not carry as it had before
Was that when we began to tire of each other?
I honestly cannot say
Now in these times of mundane tasks and ever day whatever
I strain my ears to see if I can hear that sweet song that enticed us so
In my heart I know that my chance is lost I will never dance again
The memories of the dreams we held will last through and through
