Friendships Charade
Laying mutely watching the world pass me by
Eyelids grow heavy over hazy unseeing eyes
The day is warm but the skin remains cold
Shielding vainly the trembling pitiful soul
The words...hateful venomous seething with disdain
You used them against me to stake your claim
So maintain your status among the pretenders
You shared your laughter with me
You gave me your tears Was it all simply lies?
Were they your legitimate fears?
Forget me where I lie
Pass me by with an uncaring eye
Allow the anguish to build up inside
I will not however let you see me cry
Certainly once they are gone for the day
You can drop your charade
Once again you will be by my side
Offer me your apologies and sweet smiles
Surely I will be drawn in as I always am
As sad as it is the simple truth is
I will take you any way that I can
