notes
1.The child I once was(whose eyes are now mine)
tonight beside me sleeps,
but in the morning when she wakes,
my child will walk away.
2.
beyond the river(past the trees)
there is a gully where the breeze
concedes, resting
against the grass-
anticipating death.
3.
This flesh wrapped around blood
(holding bones)shall return
to its lonesome home.
4.
one man,
and he walked away.
three bullets.
two deaths.
before the day could draw
its final breath...
sunset-
and he walked away,
one man.
