My Second Cup
And the house is once again quiet...
Save for the low whirring of the ceiling fan
Lazily running laps over my head.
All have clamored out the door
To destinations of their own
Taking with them their sense of urgency
And leaving me with breakfast dishes
And my second cup.
It will be a fine day.
The sun has already staked her claim
In the sky.
The only hint of rain that remains
Is a small puddle at the curb.
The Mimosa stands guard.
Looming o'er the front door,
Warning visitors to take care,
Do not disturb my solitude.
It is so short lived
And I treasure it.
The clock ticks off the minutes.
Soon it will be my turn to exit
And begin my day.
But not just yet....
There
is
my
second
cup....
