My Eden
The sun kissed me sweetly this morning.
I gently rock in my hammock.
Liquid fuel in hand,
Preparing to face the day.
The squirrels,
Who had been awake much earlier,
were playing tag,
Giggling,
(as only squirrels can)
and bouncing from tree to tree.
So many shades of green as far as I can see.
The forest is alive with
Color,
Sound,
Movement.
A whisper of a breeze floats past me,
Fluttering leaves and skimming the grass.
A Cardinal,
Majestic in red,
Calls to his mate from his perch on the fence.
She answers him and soon appears close by.
The sun is climbing higher,
A subtle reminder that I must be on my way.
I long to remain in my Eden.
