Late Awake
As I opened my eyes
The room bathed in bright light,
Forcing my brain
To come to attention much too quickly.
The Sun
Must have jumped hurdles
This morning,
Sitting high on her perch
Grinning,
Her skirts all around her.
She was quite pleased
With herself today.
I am destined to chase after her.
The only witnesses,
The trees
Who whispered snide remarks to each other
As I hurried off to work.
I hate to start the day this way!
