Childhood Imaginings
.
The mind wanders the countryside
Seeking the pixies of our childhood.
The sun,
Fond of making an entrance,
Filters through the leaves,
Nudging the songbirds,
Coaxing them to sing.
A Unicorn,
Fresh from a romp in the forest,
Kneels daintily as she drinks,
The water cool and clear
As it rushes downstream
To places as yet unseen.
Bumblebees play tag on the flower tops,
Bouncing to and fro
And Monarch butterflies
Halo the bushes
As fairies dance at meadows edge.
All is lush and green,
The light scent of honeysuckle
Is drifting in the air.
Do you remember?
These imaginings of childhood?
My hope
Is that all that is imaginary
Are the fairies and Unicorn.
