Come Out and Play
The Moon
Followed me to work this morning.
I saw him
Peeking over my left shoulder
As I navigated the highway.
He wasn't the robust
Harvest Moon
Of last evening.
He seemed a bit fatigued,
Having spent the night
So high in the sky,
Glowing brightly
Outside my bedroom window,
Tempting me
To come out and play.
His color was pale
As he trailed so close behind me.
I winked at him
As I walked the parking lot
And , you know,
I think
I saw him wink back.
'Come out and play"
He whispered soflty
As he faded into the morning sky,
"Come out and play."
