As A Child
as a child
i was all wander
endless wonder
small feet rustling
beneath skies of thunder
raincoat flashing
laden with water
all my boyishness
and laughter
and devotion
to the detail of my small figures
the thoughts in the minds
of my lost and found strangers
with each step
danger
falling from trees
landing in freshly piled leaves
from summer to spring
and the chill of winter
as a child i wish
that i could linger
with trembling breath
and manic fingers
to cling to a youth
i cannot remember
just vivid pictures
painted with liqour
behind closed eyes
in sodden dreams
awake in the morning
to change all things
as a child...as a child...
as a child wicked and wild
beyond the cares
beyond the stares
small body so big
the world so small
swim in the water
climb up the wall
as a child so small
as a child so small...
