UNITED TEARS OF SYMPATHY AND STRENGTH
UNITED TEARS OF SYMPATHY AND STRENGTH
Here with my wife by my side and my child in her arms I stare out looking at what no longer stands; what once reached to the sky to heights where eagles soar on high.
Buildings have fallen and lives were taken but the united strength of our country will not allow all that was lost to bring down the liberty of freedom..
The costly misfortunes cannot be repaid, but from sacred ground America will rise up.
As I wipe away a tear I somehow feel the sorrow in the hearts of the people all around.
Quietly I send out a plea for no one to look away.
Look up, gaze at angels that have gone from the planes they flew upon - to new homes in the clouds that reflect light on the lives left on earth.
Bow in silent prayer, but don’t close your eyes, open them wide.
See that apart we have walked further from day to day, and now that the nation has been brought closer together, we must help one another so that closer we stay.
My silence and solace is broken when these words are spoken.
My daughter asks “why daddy why”?
But no matter how hard I try to console my sweet baby girl, urging her not to cry, she doesn’t seem to hear me.
Then somewhat distantly I hear her say “daddy you promised never to go away”!
So regretfully and tenderly I place a kiss upon her soft wet cheek.
With the spirit of my love I hug my wife and whisper, “when you see the stars in the heavens and the stars of our great flag waving in the wind with pride - there I’ll be”.
I will always be right by your side. Remember me.
Don’t give up, and remember all the heroes that have unselfishly and sometimes unknowingly given their lives for everyone to remain free.
At this time I must say, with moistened eyes (yes heavenly souls can cry), it’s just for a little while; goodbye…
