Nature's Little Surprises
I went for a walk today
I ventured out back of the house
Took my own adventure down a lonely path
As I crossed deeper into to the woods
I began to see things that I hadn't noticed for a long time
I started recalling my childhood days of play
How my friends and I would build fortresses out of almost anything
I could recall vividly many of the sights and sounds of yesteryear
My senses became heightened by the nature that surrounded me
I suddenly dropped to the ground for no particular reason
I lay there in the leaves and looked up at the trees
Then nearby I heard a low vibrating sound
On hands and knees I crept closer to the source of my curiosity
There on a yellow flower buzzing all around was a bumble bee
Hello little bee I found myself saying without realizing the silliness of it
But the bee just went on about its intended business
I bent forward so that I could see all the detail of the world beneath my feet
Then the bee suddenly took flight and was gone
It saddened me a little to see it go
I fell back against the earth again with a quiet thud
The dirt smelled fresh, not a bit musty or stale
As I rested there I began to daydream
I was flying like a dragonfly, just racing along side a stream
The faster I flew the more of nature I could see and hear
Again I could hear the wings of the bee, buzzing as if it were beside me
That's because as I dozed the bee had calmly rested upon my head
It was actually very peaceful and therapeutic, so I remained perfectly still
It was surreal how connected I was with this unique insect
Then I SmAckeD the buzz out that bee
For without any freaking warning it stung the crap out of me
DAMN BEE! - THE END
Did I mention that I'm allergic to bees???
