Laughter
When it rains,
I remember
all the laughter
you created
as the images of your
memory are resurrected
in my vision drop by drop.
In the downpour
I'm invaded
by the flavor
in the droplets
as I savor
all the succor
of your smile that remains
when they drop.
But the burden
they must carry
is less heavy
as I am seeing
that they founder
and are hidden
as tears of sugar
crashing against the levy
at the core
of my well being
as they pop.
Yet there I seek you
in those moments that are gone
and they pursue me in their falling
as I'm thinking that I'm fleeing,
but they continue
as I'm walking,
when I'm laughing
when I'm gasping,
when I'm crying;
when I can no
longer go
on,
and they don't stop.
I remember
all the laughter
you created
as the images of your
memory are resurrected
in my vision drop by drop.
In the downpour
I'm invaded
by the flavor
in the droplets
as I savor
all the succor
of your smile that remains
when they drop.
But the burden
they must carry
is less heavy
as I am seeing
that they founder
and are hidden
as tears of sugar
crashing against the levy
at the core
of my well being
as they pop.
Yet there I seek you
in those moments that are gone
and they pursue me in their falling
as I'm thinking that I'm fleeing,
but they continue
as I'm walking,
when I'm laughing
when I'm gasping,
when I'm crying;
when I can no
longer go
on,
and they don't stop.
