HERITAGE
In my pride of what I am,
Part sioux, Part white, Spanish too,
A mix of all and everyone,
Part of the people, Part of the lie,
I look at my nature, I measure my soul,
I look into my past, That which made my future,
I take pride in my roots,
Of Native American, The people and the nation,
But shame clouds over me,
At the past, How the other half knew,
Treated and abused, Cheated and mistreated,
Slaughtered and murdered, Everything lost,
The aged, The innocent, Woman and children,
Longer than any trail of tears,
Sadder because we should know better,
Today, Now, Is it any better,
We are aware, we have the facts,
Whats past is past, Doesn't make it right,
Seems the circle only gets bigger,
From one nation, One country to the next,
When will we learn, When will we care,
When will we stop playing God, And listen,
Listen and stop the Pain.....................
