Winter is just a soft breath away
Winter is just a soft breath away
In ancient circles the fires have died
Old harvest ceremonial rites
An evening for speaking to the dead
Crisp and clear, a cold November day
The sun sinks down to rest on hillsides
In its slow migratorial flight
Down south to where all the birds have fled
Nearer now the lean winter wolfs’ bay
Where the unmentionable abides
Hope dimming in time with winters’ night
Green summer gods lie restlessly dead
Winter is just a soft breath away
In ancient circles the fires have died
Old harvest ceremonial rites
An evening for speaking to the dead
Crisp and clear, a cold November day
The sun sinks down to rest on hillsides
In its slow migratorial flight
Down south to where all the birds have fled
Nearer now the lean winter wolfs’ bay
Where the unmentionable abides
Hope dimming in time with winters’ night
Green summer gods lie restlessly dead
Winter is just a soft breath away
