    Shipwreck

    Coral red were the lips
    Which left an indelible stain
    Where they did slip
    Over the contours of my brain

    Long gone are those lips
    What remains is the stain
    Pictures of a long lost ship
    And murmurs of a shanty’s refrain

    Thorns, petals, and rose hips
    Afoul of tragedy and pain
    Bring waves and tides that rip
    Across my fully damaged brain
