Mulberry Street
Feet and legs shuffle by
Past a window way up high
Past the basement where I dwell
Apartment C, I refer to as hell
Between legs and shadows cast
That blocks the light
Eternal gloaming and night
I occasionally glimpse at very last
A window on the second floor
Where shadows linger that I adore
Sun and sky up, up where birds fly
Looking down hats and shoulders going by
I stand by the far wall
In darkness
Looking up to see this sight
In silence
A shadow pale and small
In light
Looking down upon my plight
In silence
A window on the second floor
Where shadows linger that I adore
Looking up to see this sight
Looking down upon my plight
