The Oceans In Between
Forever is so seldomly used in such a serious tone. For you, it means the freedom of calling my broken heart "home."
For the light, fingers searching, for the voice I can't ignore.
For you it's like this love is so much worth fighting for.
I cannot understand ignorance that reads me in my sleep.
Or accept the quiet lies that haunt me as I weep.
For you the light's not far away, if you'd just out reach your hand.
But the pain of you not being here is more than I can stand.
My bed that used to be so warm has now grown so cold.
And the smile I would share with you has emotionally grown old.
Tattered edges of my heart give way to nights spent alone.
If only you could see me now, for how much I have grown.
I will hold on now, to the way we should always be,
But the memories that have blinded me make it hard to see.
I will force through the dead layers of the tears I've shed for you
Because I know, in the end, that's what you'd want me to do.
You are so far, but I can see you, your heart lights my way.
And the sound of your voice through the reciever leaves me with words I cannot say.
We will hold onto what we used to be, with smiles, so real.
And loving touches captivate the way I truly feel
Blind love for the bravest lovers is sometimes far too keen,
as their burning hearts evaporate the oceans in between.
