The Little Engine That Could Not: Drew Lancaster
What if, the little engine that could, could not
And told them all I cant
Would his name still bear fame
Would his story on the bookshelf still stand
An amazing thing that kids claim
As they smile at his refusal to quit
So they wonder and seize the color
Blue on black to recognize the cover quick
The story still today as a lesson that parents fit
Never give up my child
Go the extra mile with a smile
See the little engine that could and did
So I often wonder and some times I ponder
Would we prize this story and the glory still
If the little engine that could said,"I can't"
Ending with the engine at the bottom of the hill
