Mid-Night In My Mind
Mid-Night In My Mind: Drew Lancaster
The day is at its end
My head heavy in thought
I close my eyes
Struggle through tears
If only a friend could be bought
What would I tell her
What should I say
Would she understand
This game of life
The cards I've been dealt
Would she want to play
Does she posses the strength
Or get lost in her thoughts
These stripes I wear
The price I paid
Accepting the cost
Lingering landmines are too close for comfort
One more step, she frets
A storm exagerated
Fearing thunder
What she cannot see
Stop and stare
She's scared
Her mind left to wonder
Every night I fool myself
This might be bought
A costly friend
Kind and understanding
Loveing what was once lost
A man tired and wounded
Struggling to carry his cross
No wings to help me fly
No halo on my head
Another night, another cry
An angel left for dead
