Battles rage on in my mind,
As I lose wars against myself,
Thoughts and memories weigh me down,
And I cannot tread this sea of Clarity much longer.
Long ago I burned my bridges,
And failed to build anew,
Cutting ties that anchored my ship,
To let it sink in a fury of waves cast by doubt.
I lit my castle ablaze,
Just to watch it burn,
The smoke dancing towards the stars,
A merciless moon looks down upon me,
As a thoughtless me stares back.
The days have fallen away,
A million miles in a few short seconds,
Lay waste behind me,
No chance of returning where I once stood.
Hidden in shadows,
I will keep to myself,
Sword and shield at the ready,
To protect me from my mind,
These ever lasting battles,
Will always carry on.
