Secret phrases with countless meanings,
Quick laughs and unsaid words,
Pass between the two of them.
Neither know what the other thinks,
They only hope and hold on,
Waiting for the other to spill their mind.
Things done that only the moon could tell you,
Hidden away under smiles in the sun,
Only to be repeated.
Tension built while distance grew,
Feelings pulsing and passing,
Fewer words exchanged each day.
Time passed and lovers found,
Each letting the other live about,
Until love was lost by different means.
Kind words of indifference exchanged,
Grew to sentences of how they were,
Old sparks being shifted around.
Uncertainty always present,
And history kept in mind,
Neither let their embers fly.
Both confused,
In different ways,
Each trying to find their answers.
One who sought after something more,
Than just another dark path,
To which they called home.
The other seeking to find themselves,
A path away from their previous ones,
And redeem the mistakes from along the way.
A goodbye said,
From one to the other,
Feelings still uncertain.
But that goodbye is known well,
Just another added to a countless list,
No fight to stop it will commence.
They remember each other,
As they always have,
Their better halves remaining in memory.
Wondering if the other will forget about them,
Each hope that the other is well,
And that they find their answers.
In time,
Might they speak again,
A new end will meet their cycle.
Quick laughs and unsaid words,
Pass between the two of them.
Neither know what the other thinks,
They only hope and hold on,
Waiting for the other to spill their mind.
