Where is this place, that I have been to before
But yet I still feel displaced
It is a race that is quite “human”,
For no other animal could ever keep pace,
At birth I recall a ready, set, go,
An egotistical order bellowed from society’s decree, and
there in lies the challenge of
Outlasting my brother racing along side of me
A quick look over my
Shoulder is where he will be
As he turns and also notices me
We are all brothers is divine,
But to step over you is how
I will climb, as it often
Becomes necessary to
Fight off those who are left behind
That is not maturity as you
Stretch out to cross the finish line
Of material wealth, more
Like a decline of spiritual health
As we constantly jockey for
Position in the Battle for Relevance!
You say why don’t you go back to visit,
To show that you are still with it,
But when I show everybody has
Gone on to different phases and I’m
Left alone as if I was the only root
Aboveground in a tall tree’s shade
So you tell me to come to the light
And fight your fight, cuz we can
Always use a good brother of
Your might in the Battle of
Relevance!
I decide to leave your side for
What I truly desire, for what I
Believe will help me to achieve
Relevance,
So here I am in this new tribe,
With this sorta, kinda, different vibe,
But I still remain lonely as I scribe
My hearts tears called a Battle of Relevance!
