The Price We Pay

The Price We Pay

Sometimes unhappiness is the price we gotta pay.
The cost of living, just to see another day.
I've paid untill I'm poor,
and they still got their hands out for more.
It seems like happiness,
is just another luxury I can't afford.
My pockets are empty, yet I'm rich with misery.
Pain and strife, all come free in my life.
Yes, it's true what they say,
Sometimes this is just the price we have to pay.
But I've paid all my debts
and still ain't found happiness yet.
So can you tell me,
exactly how much does happiness cost?
Because I'm willing to give all that I've got.

This is a very sad poem though well written and you have expressed your feelings well in it.I have learned that happiness is about how we choose to perceive things rather than what our circumstances are in life.Sometimes the greatest joy in life is just take a walk in the summer rain or watch a beautiful sunset ;to enoy all of the simple things in life and live in the moment.

wow..this amazing...short but it says so much more

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
