The Accident
a scream in the distance
and a flash of light in my eyes
the screeching of tires
it's all blurred in my mind
the sirens of emergency vehicles near by
the red and blue lights flash in my mind
the uniformed man
pulling me aside
shooting up in seat drenched clothes
my thoughts racing by
i remember so vaguely
what happened that day
at six years old
when they had that fight
ridding with my mother
as she tried to clear her head
now eight-teen she is dead
the accident is over
but the nightmares will
never stop
the last thing i remember
was her holding my hand
her soft smile
her last words, 'be good'
I've kept my promise
and glancing towards my roommate
i whisper, 'I'm going to graduate'
and four years later I'm a
collage graduate with my father looking up at me
as i cross the stage
my mother smiling down upon me
the accident is over but my life
is just begging
and a flash of light in my eyes
the screeching of tires
it's all blurred in my mind
the sirens of emergency vehicles near by
the red and blue lights flash in my mind
the uniformed man
pulling me aside
shooting up in seat drenched clothes
my thoughts racing by
i remember so vaguely
what happened that day
at six years old
when they had that fight
ridding with my mother
as she tried to clear her head
now eight-teen she is dead
the accident is over
but the nightmares will
never stop
the last thing i remember
was her holding my hand
her soft smile
her last words, 'be good'
I've kept my promise
and glancing towards my roommate
i whisper, 'I'm going to graduate'
and four years later I'm a
collage graduate with my father looking up at me
as i cross the stage
my mother smiling down upon me
the accident is over but my life
is just begging
