As We Lay Dieing
There was a time when people could say I was happy
When the world stopped hating me
I found out the hard way how very wrong I was
How even now I'm far from happy
The days are blurred into months which are smudge into years
It's become hard to say how happiness left me without a smile on my face
How the end of this life come so quickly that no one is ready for it
Why does death have such a cruel sense of humor
Leaving us a soulless vessel of flesh and blood
Empty and forgotten
Buried six feet below the earth now and forever
Earth our mother
Who we regard as a soulless thing
When we should know better that as trees and flowers bloom
Will be the only thing left in this universe that has a soul
We abuse and use this poor planet for our own selfish gain
When in the end we are returned to her
As if to a mothers arms
Where we lay dieing
